How did the LunchClub come to be?

William Carey It all started a couple years back, when club founders William Carey "the Lunch Guru," and Nate Tanner "the Lunch Master," were in college. They both loved to go out to lunch, but they didn't have much money. One day, they realized that if they ate Ramen noodles even once more, their brains would turn to mush, so they decided to find some new ways to get discounts at local restaurants. After at least 4 minutes of intense brainstorming, they realized that it might just work to get a big group of people together to form a "lunch club," to help motivate restaurants to give big discounts. "What a great idea!" they thought, "We're geniuses!" Naturally the club was a great success and everyone loved it. Fast forward to one year after graduation. Nate had received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and Nate Tanner was now working on the ill-fated Iridium project for Motorola, in Chandler, AZ. Will had graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics, and was playing professional hockey in Canada. Things were going well, but Will eventually tired of the posh celebrity life in Saskatchewan. He decided to give up the frozen north and join his friend in the desert of Arizona. After being reunited, the two decided to resurrect the lunch club concept and take it to the next level. That's when another great idea hit: "Have you heard about that new fangled information super highway?" asked Will. "Maybe we could use that for the club..." And so LunchClub.com was born. The club has grown steadily ever since, currently sending out over 1 million lunch discounts per month. Club members love the LunchClub, because it provides them the opportunity to get discounts at conveniently located restaurants, and because it helps them save big cash on their lunch bill, and because it's free!
